The smaller ApeosPort, A3 colour
The A3 printers you see in office supply shops are mostly inkjets. They are fine for the occasional A3 print at home or in a very small office.
An office A3 copier, also called an A3 multifunction printer or A3 MFP, is a different machine. It copies, prints and scans, holds hundreds of sheets in several drawers, scans double sided documents in one pass, and is built to run thousands of pages a month for years. It is serviced on site when it needs it.
If more than a few people print, or you scan as much as you print, you want the office machine.
A3 when anyone prints A3. A4 when nobody does.
Search for an A3 printer and most of what you find are A3 inkjets from Brother, Epson, Canon and HP, including Epson's EcoTank range, and A3 colour printers from OKI. They are made for the occasional A3 job: one or two paper trays, ink or toner bought by the cartridge, and no technician who comes to you.
An A3 multifunction printer for the office, an A3 MFP, is what most people call a copier. It prints, copies and scans A3, holds four drawers of paper, can staple and fold, and is serviced on site at a set cost per page. If you need an A3 printer for a business, this is usually the one to look at.
For most businesses the best A3 printer is an A3 colour laser multifunction printer at 25 to 35 pages a minute: fast enough to share, cheap to run per page, and able to scan double sided documents in one pass. Busy offices go faster. Offices that rarely print colour save with an A3 mono machine.
We supply new A3 machines from Kyocera, Toshiba, HP and Lexmark, and A3 photocopiers from every major brand secondhand. On a budget? See cheap A3 copiers.
A3 colour photocopiers, also called colour copiers or A3 colour multifunction printers, are the most common office machine now, and colour pages cost more than black and white pages to run. If you rarely print colour, a mono A3 machine is cheaper to run. If colour matters to how your business looks, go colour and set the defaults to black and white.
If nobody prints A3 and you have fewer than about ten people, an A4 machine may be all you need, and it takes less space. See office printers.
Tell us what you need, or the model you have in mind. We reply with two or three machines that fit and the figures for each, in writing. No obligation.

Another name for an A3 multifunction printer or A3 photocopier: one machine that prints, copies and scans on A3 and A4 paper.
A single function A3 colour laser printer only prints. Add a scanner and a document feeder and it becomes an A3 colour laser multifunction printer, which is what an office copier is.
